Semi-Annual Plant Share

Where: the field west of the Calgary Horticultural
Society office located at 208 - 50 Ave. SW Calgary
What is it all about?
The Society hosts two plant shares a year in the
fall and spring. The objective of this event is for
Society members to share excess plant material with other members
and provide information about plants, their cultures and habits.
Plant advisors are on hand to answer questions and help them find
the right plant for the right location in your garden. Gardeners
bring in their excess plants to share and plants can be purchased
for $3.00 each.
In order to better serve our members, this will once again be a
members-only event. Please make sure your membership is up to date
prior to the event and be sure to bring your membership card with
How the Plant Shares Work
- Dig up a selection of your extra plants (about 5 inch pot
size). Plants that are too big are difficult to handle and those
that are too small often do not transfer well.
- Bag or pot your contributions and bring them in
between 9:00 - 9:45 am for identification,
labeling and tallying.
- Please remember, plants must be in good condition, plants that
are not in good condition will not be accepted.
- Using a lottery system, numbers are called and
the plant sharing begins at 10:00am and runs until the
plants run out.
- Plant advisors will be on hand to answer
- Plants can be purchased for $3 each.
The success of the Plant Share depends on plants and
participation. If you've never participated before, plan on

Garlic Drop Off (Fall-Only)
Garlic growers who have participated in the Garlic Exchange in
the past and who would like to participate this year are able to
drop off their cured and labelled garlic bulbs in the teaching
garden located behind the office between 9:00 am - 11:00
This year, for every garlic bulb that is in good condition and
properly labelled with your name, contact and garlic type, you will
receive a $1 Credit Note that you may put towards your new purchase
of garlic at the Garlic Fair 2017 & Exchange. Also, you may put
your name in a draw to win a prize.
