Aconitum napellus

Blue monkshood

Rounded mounds of deeply divided leaves grow rapidly into impressive towers of foliage. Flowers resemble a monk's cowl and appear in summer. Monkshood prefers well-drained, rich soil and plenty of moisture. May need staking. All parts are poisonous.
