Obtain a Site

Community gardens can exist on public or private land.  The City of Calgary Parks department strongly recommends they be built on land that is already leased and insured by the local community association. In order of desirability, potential sites for your community garden include:

  1. Public land owned by City of Calgary Parks and leased to a community association.
  2. Private land owned by a local church or other faith-based organization, a school board, condo association, non-profit society, business or individual philanthropist.
  3. An existing City of Calgary park.

Obtaining your site starts with identifying potential sites and then leasing and insuring the site.
